Stills gallery - Alpaca Farm
I'd photographed Llama and, to a lesser extent Alpaca, many years ago. I rode them, was spat on by them, trekked over Scottish mountains with several, had one make er... advances on me and generally had a good fill of Camellid photography. So when I was asked by the National Farmers Union to take a venture into the Lake District I knew what to expect, or at least I thought I did.
My time with these Alpaca was very gentle when compared with my other experiences. In fact I had to coax and tease them to get my shots. If you every want to get up close and intimate with livestock just lie down. They'll come right over and see what you're doing! Perfect for a quirky photo or two. Hiding in the buttercups I made some really quite nice photos of them.
