me . . .

Based on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, I've been a countryside photographer since childhood. Ever since my dad bought me a secondhand camera and darkroom kit for £35 when I was just 10 year old, I have sought new ways to capture the beauty and realism of the natural world. A world that has always fascinated me.

As a young lad I spent my weekends walking with Fleet, my Collie dog in the Lancashire countryside, laden down with lenses, capturing the light on Kodachrome. I had images published regularly in local and national magazines during my school years, enabling me to fund my passion. Becoming a professional photographer was my sole goal and during the 1980s I established myself as a full time photographer juggling the demands of a career with those of my growing family.

Whether shooting in the confines of a garden or exploring the wilder world my imagery ranges from the experimental through to classical with 'real' nature being the overriding theme.

A pioneer of digital nature photography, I was one of the first in my field to take this new form of image capture seriously, shooting professionally with digital cameras since 2002. Working with Canon equipment, my current kit is based around their benchmark camera bodies the 1Ds Mk2 and the 5D Mk2, shooting through professional specification digitally optimised lenses to ensure the ultimate 'real feel' to my pictures. The files produced by this equipment are supremely suitable for virtually any imaging use.
